Job summary

Sienna Senior Living is seeking a Cook for Woods Park Community & Retirement in Barrie, ON. You will prepare meals according to menus, diets, and production sheets, ensuring safe handling and portion control.

You will support daily kitchen operations, assist with training, and contribute to a respectful resident experience. The role requires Grade 12, Safe Food Handling and/or Smart Serve certificates, and experience in institutional or healthcare dining.

Qualifications

• Experience cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality settings.
• Valid Safe Food Handling and/or Smart Serve certificates.
• Positive attitude aligned with residence goals.

Responsibilities

• Set up equipment and supplies for food prep.
• Prepare meals per production sheets and recipes.
• Provide for prescribed diets at proper temperatures and portions.
• Monitor quality of food supplies and advise on corrective actions.
• In absence of team leader, handle departmental operations and purchases.
• Assist in orientation and training of new team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

As a Cook your typical day will impact in the following ways:

• Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation
• Preparing meals and snacks according to production sheets, recipes and other menu document as provided
• Providing for prescribed diets, at appropriate temperatures and in portion controlled quantities
• Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advises team leader of problems and makes recommendations about corrective action
• In the absence of the team leader, assumes responsibility for departmental operations including enu changes as necessary, requisitions and purchases food and other supplies from authorized suppliers
• Assisting in the orientation and training of new team members
• Performing other duties as assigned

Must Haves

• Grade 12 minimum education required
• A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate
• Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality
• Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence
• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit
• You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Criminal Record Check applicable to the appropriate province

Additional Qualifications That Would Be Considered An Asset

• Graduate of a recognized college food preparation program and willing to Red Seal certify
