Job summary

Sienna Senior Living is seeking a Cook for a part-time role at Harmony Hills in North York, Ontario. The position offers a rate of pay of $25.47 per hour as per the collective agreement and requires a Grade 12 education with relevant food safety certifications.

Eligible applicants should have experience cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality settings and be able to meet dietary requirements and portion controls.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 minimum education required.
  • Valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate.
  • Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence.
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check. Applicable to Ontario applicants.
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Criminal Records Check. Applicable to British Columbia applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation.
  • Preparing meals and snacks according to production sheets, recipes and other menu documents.
  • Providing for prescribed diets, at appropriate temperatures and in portion controlled quantities.
  • Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advising team leader of problems and corrective actions.
  • In the absence of the team leader, assumes responsibility for departmental operations including changes as necessary, requisitions and purchases.
  • Assisting in the orientation and training of new team members.
  • Performing other duties as assigned

As a Cook your typical day will impact in the following ways:

Must haves:
  • Grade 12 minimum education required

Additional qualifications that would be considered an asset:
  • Graduate of a recognized college food preparation program and willing to Red Seal certify
