Job summary

Sienna Senior Living is hiring a Cook for the Fort Saskatchewan Care Community. The role involves preparing meals and ensuring menu items meet production sheets, while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Must have Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Valid Safe Food Handling and/or Smart Serve certificate.
  • Experience cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant or hospitality.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit.
  • Must pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Criminal Record Check for the relevant province.

Responsibilities

  • Set up equipment and supplies for food preparation.
  • Prepare meals and snacks according to production sheets and recipes.
  • Provide for prescribed diets, at appropriate temperatures and in portion controlled quantities.
  • Monitor quality of food supplies received and advise team leader of issues and corrective actions.
  • In the absence of the team leader, assume responsibility for departmental operations including changes and purchases.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

As a Cook your typical day will impact in the following ways:
  • Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation
  • Preparing meals and snacks according to production sheets, recipes and other menu document as provided
  • Providing for prescribed diets, at appropriate temperatures and in portion controlled quantities
  • Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advises team leader of problems and makes recommendations about corrective action
  • In the absence of the team leader, assumes responsibility for departmental operations including enu changes as necessary, requisitions and purchases food and other supplies from authorized suppliers
  • Assisting in the orientation and training of new team members
  • Performing other duties as assigned
Must Haves
  • Grade 12 minimum education required
  • A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate
  • Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence
  • You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit
  • You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Criminal Record Check applicable to the appropriate province
Additional Qualifications That Would Be Considered An Asset
  • Graduate of a recognized college food preparation program and willing to Red Seal certify
