Job summary

Sienna Senior Living in Gravenhurst, ON is seeking a Cook to join Muskoka Shores Community. The position offers a hourly wage of $23.28 as per the collective agreement, with opportunities to contribute to resident meals and dietary needs.

You will prepare meals, support diet plans, and work in a team dedicated to safety, dignity and quality of life for seniors. Must have Grade 12 and Safe Food Handling certification; experience in health care or hospitality is preferred.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 minimum education required.
• Valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate.
• Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit.
• Pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Criminal Record Check as applicable to the province.

Responsibilities

• Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation.
• Preparing meals and snacks according to production sheets, recipes and other menu documents.
• Providing for prescribed diets, at appropriate temperatures and in portion controlled quantities.
• Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advising team leader of problems and corrective actions.
• In the absence of the team leader, assumes responsibility for departmental operations including menu changes and purchases from authorized suppliers.
• Assisting in orientation and training of new team members.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

As a Cook your typical day will impact in the following ways:

Must haves:

• Grade 12 minimum education required

• Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality
• Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence
• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit
• You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Criminal Record Check applicable to the appropriate province

Additional qualifications that would be considered an asset:

• Graduate of a recognized college food preparation program and willing to Red Seal certify
