Job summary

Compass-Group in Vancouver is seeking a Cook to prepare and cook foods to corporate standards in a high-volume kitchen. The role requires maintaining mise en place, ensuring safety, and coordinating with other departments to deliver quality service.

The successful candidate will have proven cooking experience, a Food Safety Certification, and a formal cooking school certificate. You will work as part of a team on site with standard shifts and opportunities to grow within the operation.

Qualifications

• Proven cooking experience.
• Food Safety Certification required.
• Certificate from a recognized cooking school.
• Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures.
• Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks.
• Familiar with industry’s best practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, pre-cook and/or cook food products as directed.
• Prepare mise en place (setting in place of foods, garnishes, sauces, dishes, cutlery, etc) for high volume production.
• Clean kitchen equipment after use according to health and safety policies and procedures.
• Label, date, store and rotate food and beverage products in appropriate storage areas.
• Communicate effectively with all appropriate operational departments.
• Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

Description

The hourly wage rate for this position is $27.56 - (base pay + SSO wage*)*Base $22.55 + $5.01/hr SSO wage) *Single Site Order (SSO) is subject to the direction of government and may be discontinued at any time.

Prepares food in accordance with applicable corporate standards, guidelines and regulations with established policies and procedures. Ensures quality food service is provided at all times.
