Job summary

Compass Group Canada is seeking Cooks to prepare, pre-cook and cook food in a high-volume kitchen in Vancouver. Duties include mise en place, labeling and rotating food, equipment cleanup, and coordinating with other departments. A Food Safety Certification and a cooking school certificate are required.

Candidate should be able to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and a strong understanding of cooking methods and safety protocols are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven cooking experience in restaurant or prep cook roles.
• Food Safety Certification required.
• Certificate from a recognized cooking school.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, pre-cook and/or cook food products as directed.
• Prepare mise en place for high volume production.
• Clean kitchen equipment after use per health and safety policies.
• Label, date, store and rotate food and beverages in proper storage.
• Communicate with operational departments as needed.
• Report maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents immediately.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The hourly wage rate for this position is $27.56 - (base pay + SSO wage*)*Base $22.55 + $5.01/hr SSO wage) *Single Site Order (SSO) is subject to the direction of government and may be discontinued at any time.

Prepares food in accordance with applicable corporate standards, guidelines and regulations with established policies and procedures. Ensures quality food service is provided at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare, pre-cook and/or cook food products as directed.
• Prepare "mise en place" (setting in place of foods, garnishes, sauces, dishes, cutlery, etc) and other products as required for high volume production.
• Clean kitchen equipment after use according to health and safety policies and procedures.
• Label, date, store and rotate food and beverage products in appropriate storage areas.
• Communicate effectively with all appropriate operational departments.
• Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
