Job summary

Shannex Incorporated is seeking a Cook for the Parkland Ajax team in Ajax, Ontario. The role covers full-time and casual shifts, offering a stable schedule and progressive opportunities within a healthcare-focused culinary team.

Prepare nutritious meals for residents, support special events, and maintain high standards of food safety and presentation in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous cooking experience (1+ year preferred).
  • High-school diploma or GED required or preferred.
  • Current food handlers’ certificate preferred.
  • Ability to provide a clear criminal record check on hire.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare fresh, nutritious meals that enhance residents’ dining experience.
  • Assist with food prep for special functions (catering, theme dinners).
  • Follow recipes, menus, and therapeutic dietary requirements with quality and presentation in mind.
  • Report recipe shortages, discrepancies or quality issues to the Executive Chef or supervisor.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness; sanitize stations and equipment; label excess food correctly.
  • Follow waste disposal guidelines for organics, paper, plastics, and cans/bottles.

We are searching for a Full time and casual Cook 2's to join our Parkland Ajax team based in Ajax, Ontario.

About The Opportunity
  • Prepare fresh, nutritious, and delicious meals that enhance the dining experience and well-being of our residents.
  • Assists with preparation of food for special functions (e.g. catering, theme dinners) to ensure service meets established standards;
  • Prepare meals according to established recipes, menus, and therapeutic dietary requirements while maintaining quality and presentation standards.
  • Reports any recipe shortages, discrepancies or quality issues to the Executive Chef or supervisor in a timely manner;
  • Clean and sanitize cooking station daily; maintain the cleanliness of kitchen equipment such as ovens, kettles, mixers, and others in order to maintain safety and sanitation in the kitchen to meet legislative and organizational standards; responsible for the clear and correct labeling of excess food;
  • Follows disposal procedures according to established waste management guidelines for organics, paper, plastics, cans/bottles, non-recyclable material, etc;
About You

  • Enjoys preparing high-quality meals in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Takes pride in food safety, consistency, and presentation
  • Works well independently and as part of a team
  • Has previous cooking experience (1+ year preferred)
  • A high-school diploma or a GED;
  • Current food handlers’ certificate (preferred);
  • Ability to provide a clear criminal record check upon hire;
  • A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services and care.
