Job summary

Shannex is seeking an Executive Chef for the Parkland Ancaster team in Ancaster, Ontario. The role leads the culinary team, oversees food services, and delivers catering for internal and external events in a long-term care setting.

The ideal candidate has 5–7+ years as a chef, 2+ years in leadership, and a strong focus on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. A commitment to ongoing education and health service collaboration is essential.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Cook papers from an accredited institution.
  • Advanced Food Safety certificate.
  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience as a chef.
  • Minimum of two years in a leadership role in food services.
  • Experience in volume food preparation in the hospitality or long-term care sector.
  • Candidates must obtain a clear Criminal Record Check (and Vulnerable Sector Check where applicable).
  • Any Alzheimer's or Dementia training is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Selects, shapes, and develops the culinary team.
  • Providing leadership and overseeing provision of food services.
  • Providing catering services for internal and external events.
  • Input into division menu development.
  • Liaising with Health Services to ensure therapeutic menu modifications as indicated.

About The Opportunity

About You
  • Journeyman Cook papers from an accredited institution
  • Current and recognized Advanced Food Safety certificate
  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience as a chef
  • Minimum of two years in a leadership role in food services
  • Experience in volume food preparation in the hospitality or long-term care sector
  • Successful candidates will be required to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check, and where applicable, a Vulnerable Sector Check, prior to appointment.
  • Previous management experience is an asset, as well as any other Alzheimer’s or Dementia training courses are considered an asset
