Job summary

Explore Edmonton Corporation’s Edmonton Convention Centre seeks a Pastry Chef de Partie to join the Pastry Team. You will support the Executive Pastry Chef in delivering high-quality pastry and bakery offerings and lead a skilled team in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.

With 5+ years in a busy culinary environment and a culinary or hospitality degree, you’ll develop menus, mentor staff, ensure mise en place, and uphold safety and quality standards while collaborating with other departments to

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a high-volume kitchen or banquet operations.
  • A degree in culinary or hospitality management is considered an asset.
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • Being comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Superb verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Well-developed sense of taste and smell.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and execute all pastry and bakery menus.
  • Prepare and bake bread, baked goods, pies, cakes, tarts, French pastries, and desserts.
  • Ensure that the mise en place is ready for the next day according to demands.
  • Maintain organization, timeliness, and delivery of all food that is prepared by the team.
  • Provide direction and assistance to the team of cooks, ensuring full utilization of employee capabilities and skill sets.
  • Act as a role model to department members by providing daily observations, direction, and assistance to the team.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Establish good working relationships with other departments.

About the Position

The Edmonton Convention Centre is seeking a Pastry Chef de Partieto join the PastryTeam! As a Pastry CDP, you will support the Executive Pastry Chef in delivering consistently high‑quality food. You will lead and mentor members of the Pastry team, observe methods of preparation and inform the team of necessary adjustments to maintain quality standards and a safe working environment.
