Job summary

  • Review menus, prepare food following standardized recipes and production sheets.
  • Assist the Food Services Manager in their responsibilities in their absence.
  • Monitor the quality and quantity of food supplies; recommend corrective actions as needed.
  • Coach Dietary Aides in basic food preparation and serving activities; handle routine departmental operations in the absence of the Food Services Manager, including staff replacements and equipment issues.
  • Maintain required records and collaborate with other departments to meet resident needs.

Qualifications
  • Must meet one of the following:
  • Chef training or culinary management certificate/diploma from a recognized program;
  • Certificate of qualification as a Cook issued by an authorized body;
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in food and nutrition.
Additional Qualifications
  • Red Seal Cook Trade Certification (preferred)
  • Experience in institutional large quantity cooking (preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to lead in a busy environment
  • Current Safe Food Handling Certificate
  • Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
