EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Position: Cook – Full-Time – 2nd Posting

SALARY: $25.50 / hour

Under the direct supervision of the Hub Centre Manager, and the general direction of the Superintendent of Academics and Education Director.

Responsibilities:

1. Plan interesting and nutritious menus for preschoolers and toddlers in collaboration with the Hub Centre.
2. Prepare all snacks and lunch menus.
3. Purchase, store, prepare, and serve food to retain nutritional value and prevent contamination.
4. Maintain records of food orders and concerns regarding special diets or allergies.
5. Maintain inventory of kitchen equipment, supplies, and food supplies.
6. Foster a positive working relationship with all staff and Hub Centre programs.
7. Attend meetings and relevant workshops as support staff when requested.
8. Have knowledge of the nutritional requirements of young children.
9. Follow recommendations regarding special diets or allergies.
10. Ensure a safe environment by maintaining high standards of food safety and sanitation, protecting the health and well-being of the children.

Qualifications:

1. Must be physically capable of long periods of standing, walking, and handling medium to heavy-weight equipment and materials.
2. Food Handler’s Certification and WHMIS certification.
3. Food Service Worker certification or previous experience in food service industry.
4. Minimum Grade 12 Diploma (OSSD).
5. Knowledge and appreciation of Anishinabek Culture, Traditions, Language, and History.
6. Provide a cover letter, resume, and three current work-related references.
7. Provide a current original vulnerable/criminal reference check upon offer of employment.
