Job summary

BGIS in Newmarket, Ontario is seeking a Controls Technician to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair PLC-controlled systems, vision inspection equipment, barcoding, CNC centers and electromechanical presses.

You will update PLC programs, vision system configurations, and HMI interfaces, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, document activity, mentor apprentices, and help deploy new automation technologies while conforming to OHSA, ISO and IATF standards.

Qualifications

Must have hands-on experience with PLC-controlled machinery.
Ability to perform root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
Willingness to train junior technicians and apprentices.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair PLC-controlled systems and automation equipment.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Maintain PLC programs, vision systems, and HMI configurations.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime.
Provide technical guidance and training to junior technicians.
Support integration and commissioning of new automation technologies.
Ensure safety compliance with OHSA, ISO, and IATF standards.
Document maintenance activities and keep logs.
Propose reliability improvements and cost reductions.
Maintain spare parts inventory and notify on low stock.
