Job summary

Saltworks Technologies Inc. in Richmond, BC, is seeking a Controls & Automation Engineer (SCADA) to help design, implement, and commission advanced water treatment and mineral processing systems.

You will work across engineering teams to deliver robust SCADA packages and simulation environments. The role emphasizes hands-on field support, strong communication, and a passion for solving complex environmental challenges.

Qualifications

• A degree in Electrical, Computer, or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Registered (or eligible) as a Professional Engineer with EGBC.
• 2–5 years of experience in designing, implementing, and commissioning controls and automation.
• Experience with Ignition Perspective and/or AVEVA System Platform.
• Experience identifying and troubleshooting controls and automation bugs under tight deadlines.
• Process library experience (Plant PAxor Siemens APL) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver SCADA screens as part of automation packages for complex water treatment plants.
• Set up operator-friendly simulations of the controls and automation system and facilitate thorough simulation testing.
• Support commissioning and troubleshooting of controls & automation systems.
• Interface with third-party vendor sub-systems using common industrial communication protocols, including Modbus, EtherNet/IP, and Peer-to-Peer Messaging.
• Work closely with Process-Control Engineers to ensure control narrative accuracy and work towards eliminating gaps between Process and Controls.
• Occasionally traveling to plant installations and working with customers for start-up and commissioning.
