Job summary
AWC Water Solutions in Calgary is seeking a seasoned Automation & Instrumentation specialist to develop and integrate PLC, HMI, and SCADA solutions for turnkey water and wastewater projects. You will interpret customer requirements, design control architectures, and implement robust automation solutions across multiple systems.
The role covers programming Rockwell/ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and FactoryTalk View Studio; Siemens/Schneider assets are assets; you will support commissioning, field
Qualifications
- 5-10 years of experience in automation and controls.
- Experience in water/wastewater treatment or turnkey industrial packages is an asset.
- Demonstrate experience in developing PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications and supporting control systems through commissioning.
- Experience with Rockwell and FactoryTalk View Studio preferred.
- Experience with EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP, and OPC UA.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
Responsibilities
- Develop automation solutions from concept through commissioning.
- Review customer requirements and implement automation solutions to meet objectives.
- Design, implement, optimize, and troubleshoot PID and advanced control strategies.
- Develop software using PLC/HMI standards and libraries.
- PLC programming and calibration of field devices.
- Develop intuitive HMI and SCADA displays and configurations.
- Configure industrial Ethernet networks and protocols.
- Support Factory Acceptance Testing prior to shipment and field commissioning.
- Provide remote technical support and mentorship to junior staff.
- Travel up to 25% as needed.
