Job summary

Elby Professional Recruitment is assisting a growing client in hiring a Controller for the hybrids in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. You will oversee day‑to‑day accounting, ensure accurate financial reporting, and drive improvements in internal controls and processes.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, CPA in progress, and strong analytical skills to support budgeting and forecasting, cash flow management, and performance analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA designation completed or in progress.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience with month‑end close and financial reporting.
• Budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
• Advanced Excel and financial reporting tools.
• Experience in manufacturing, construction, project-based environments is a plus.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, and general ledger activities.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, management reports, and month‑end reporting packages.
• Support and coordinate month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Provide guidance and leadership to members of the accounting team.
• Assist in development, implementation, and maintenance of internal controls and financial procedures.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Monitor financial trends, identify risks, and recommend process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and tax requirements.

Reporting to the senior finance leader, this role will oversee financial operations, reporting, compliance, budgeting, and process improvement initiatives.
