Job summary

Assemble, based in Toronto, is seeking an Accountant (Contract) to lead month‑end close for our 80+ person team. You will own accounts receivable and accounts payable workflows, including cash applications, collections, vendor payments, and payroll calculations, while supporting external audits.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of full‑cycle accounting experience, proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Excel, and strong cross‑functional communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience including full-cycle month-end close.
• Experience handling AR and AP, payroll, and audits support.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Reconcile cash applications, monitor AR balances, and coordinate collections with billing.
• Oversee AP: review invoices, supervise weekly payments, initiate ACH/wire payments.
• Administer payroll and commissions for 80+ employees.
• Support external audits with schedules and auditor requests.
• Provide budgeting analytics and identify process improvements.
• Collaborate with Event Operations on budgets and financial performance.
• Maintain accurate records and respond to inquiries from stakeholders.
• Assist with special projects and accounting initiatives.
