Job summary

Liberty Mutual Canada is seeking an Associate Underwriter for our Construction team in Canada. The role focuses on underwriting, marketing, maintaining and growing a property & casualty construction portfolio, including package, auto, tool and builder risks.

You will build broker relationships, analyze risk, and negotiate terms while collaborating with cross-functional teams to leverage multi-line opportunities. This is a dynamic, client-focused role with ongoing learning.

Qualifications

• University degree with a focus in business, engineering or applied science is an asset.
• Related work experience in the insurance industry is an asset.
• Strong analytical and interpersonal communication skills are required.
• Superior relationship management and negotiation skills.
• Action oriented and capable of timely underwriting decisions under deadlines.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Effective in presentations to varied audiences.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite, market, maintain and grow an assigned Construction portfolio.
• Analyze risk, negotiate policy terms and conditions, pursue rate adequacy and retention.
• Ensure exposure analysis, document quality and timely account summaries.
• Maintain and expand broker relationships with regular marketing activities.
• Collaborate with Liberty units to leverage multi-line opportunities.
• Prioritize workload and provide excellent service to brokers and clients.
• Engage in ongoing learning through industry events and internal resources.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
