Job summary

Liberty Mutual Canada seeks an AVP, Executive Underwriter to lead underwriting and profitable growth of a Construction portfolio across P&C lines. The role focuses on strategy, broker relationships, and talent development within a collaborative team environment.

Based in a flexible work setting, the AVP will guide policy wordings, ensure risk selection, and drive regional growth while mentoring staff and maintaining high client service standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years insurance experience focused on Construction.
• Experience underwriting construction insurance.
• University degree in business, engineering or applied sciences preferred.
• Strong understanding of policy wordings and their impact on claims.
• Analytical, solutions-oriented underwriting that drives growth.
• Experience with guideline frameworks and broker relationships.
• Excellent communication and time management.

Responsibilities

• Manage a large Construction portfolio for profitable growth.
• Act as senior technical resource for complex Construction risks.
• Collaborate with risk services, actuary and claims teams.
• Contribute to broker strategy and pipeline growth.
• Lead underwriting talent development and coaching.
• Maintain relationships with brokers and clients.
• Support regional growth strategies and process improvements.
