Job summary

Foxridge Homes is seeking a Construction Safety Officer to monitor and enforce safety at multiple Surrey sites. Office location is at 201-6525 177B Street, Surrey, BC, Canada.

You will lead safety orientations, document inspections and coordinate with site teams to maintain a safe workplace. The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma, CSO/NCSO certification, 3+ years of construction experience, and proficiency with MS Office.

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.
  • Detail-oriented approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and enforce compliance with Safety Program at all sites.
  • Rectify unsafe conditions and mitigate risks.
  • Lead safety orientations for new employees and enforce policies.
  • Maintain documentation of safety meetings and COR audits.
  • Administer first aid as required and support incident investigations.

Title:Construction Safety Officer(single-family homes and non-strata rowhomes)

Location: Metro Vancouver area. Office location is 201-6525 177B Street, Surrey.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Construction Manager, as the Construction Safety Officer you will monitor and enforce compliance with Qualico’s Safety Program at all assigned work sites. You also promote a safe and health workplace culture, and leverage opportunities to continually improve workplace safety.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting site and location safety inspectionsto assess and document allinformation into the safety inspection system.
  • Rectifying any unsafe conditions or acts, and taking immediate measures to mitigate risks and hazards when necessary.
  • Leading safety orientations for new employees. Enforcing policies and legislative requirements to trades and all individuals assigned to company sites/facilities.
  • Maintaining updated documentation of the work site Joint Safety & Health committee meetings for assigned work sites and locations.
  • Administering first aid as required and appropriate.
  • Assisting in the implementation of internal and external Certificate of Recognition (COR) audits.
  • Investigating workplace incidents and reports of hazardous acts or conditions in accordance with Safety Program requirements.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of the Safety Program procedures, and initiating changes for continuous improvement.

  • Standard First Aid Certification.
  • CSO or NCSO Certification.

  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Satisfactory verification of criminal record check.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint and PowerPoint).

Work Conditions

You primarily work outdoors on job sites during regular business hours. Work is mobile with exposure to potential accidents or occupational hazards as well as dealing with inclement weather, heights, dust and noise. Occasional weekend or evening work may be required. Actions taken and decisions made directly impact the safety and health of others. Overtime may occasionally be required.
