Job summary

Foxridge Homes BC is seeking a Construction Safety Officer to monitor and enforce the safety program across Metro Vancouver job sites. You will lead safety inspections, rectify hazards, and promote a health workplace culture.

You must hold CSO or NCSO, have at least 3 years in construction, and be proficient with MS Office. The role entails outdoor work, occasional evenings, and driving between sites.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CSO or NCSO Certification.
• Minimum 3 years of construction related experience.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
• Criminal record check satisfactory.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Conduct site safety inspections and document findings.
• Rectify unsafe conditions and mitigate hazards immediately.
• Lead safety orientations for new employees; enforce policies.
• Maintain documentation of Joint Safety & Health committee meetings.
• Administer first aid as required.
• Assist COR audits and safety program audits.
• Investigate incidents and contributing factors per Safety Program.
• Evaluate safety procedures and drive continuous improvement.

Location: Metro Vancouver area. Office location is 201-6525 177B Street, Surrey.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Construction Manager, as the Construction Safety Officer you will monitor and enforce compliance with Qualico's Safety Program at all assigned work sites. You also promote a safe and health workplace culture, and leverage opportunities to continually improve workplace safety.

Your Day-to-day Responsibilities Will Include

• Conducting site and location safety inspections to assess and document all information into the safety inspection system.


• Rectifying any unsafe conditions or acts, and taking immediate measures to mitigate risks and hazards when necessary.


• Leading safety orientations for new employees. Enforcing policies and legislative requirements to trades and all individuals assigned to company sites/facilities.


• Maintaining updated documentation of the work site Joint Safety & Health committee meetings for assigned work sites and locations.


• Administering first aid as required and appropriate.


• Assisting in the implementation of internal and external Certificate of Recognition (COR) audits.


• Investigating workplace incidents and reports of hazardous acts or conditions in accordance with Safety Program requirements.


• Evaluating the effectiveness of the Safety Program procedures, and initiating changes for continuous improvement.

Essential Requirements

• High School Diploma, or equivalent.


• Standard First Aid Certification.


• CSO or NCSO Certification.


• Minimum 3 years of construction related experience.


• Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.


• Satisfactory verification of criminal record check.


• Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint and PowerPoint).

Work Conditions

You primarily work outdoors on job sites during regular business hours. Work is mobile with exposure to potential accidents or occupational hazards as well as dealing with inclement weather, heights, dust and noise. Occasional weekend or evening work may be required. Actions taken and decisions made directly impact the safety and health of others. Overtime may occasionally be required.
