Job summary

Axiom Builders is seeking a Construction Safety Officer to join our Vancouver/Coquitlam team, bringing deep knowledge of OH&S legislation and practical coaching to improve site safety.

You will conduct orientations, inspections, and coordinate safety for workers and subcontractors, with a strong emphasis on risk spotting and habit change.

The base hourly salary is $35-$40, plus a competitive bonus program, with opportunities to grow within a safety-focused construction partner.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of safety experience on construction sites.
• Advanced First Aid (OFA Level 3) required.
• Residential construction experience with a General Contractor.
• CSO designation or equivalent accreditation.
• Additional safety training (WHMIS, CSTS, Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platform) is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and enhance safety by tracking incidents and suggesting improvements.
• Document issues and risks in safety software (Hammertech).
• Conduct orientations, training, and safety coordination for workers and subcontractors.
• Perform safety inspections and hazard assessments; advise on tool/equipment use.
• Lead emergency response, manage First Aid resources, investigate incidents, and support safety records.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and enhance safety by tracking issues, maintaining records of incidents, and suggesting improvements;
• Document and track issues and potential risks in our safety management software (Hammertech);
• Conduct orientations, training, and safety coordination for workers and subcontractors;
• Perform safety inspections, hazard assessments, and provide guidance on tool and equipment usage;
• Lead emergency response, manage First Aid resources, investigate incidents, and collaborate on safety record management.

Skills & Experience

• 2 or more (2+) years related experience in a safety position acquired in a construction setting;
• Advanced First Aid (OFA Level 3) is a must;
• Experience in residential construction within a General Contractor;
• CSO designation and/or National Construction Safety Officer or similar accreditation through a recognized training authority;
• Additional training in safety an asset including but not limited to, WHMIS, CSTS, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platform etc.
