Qualifications

  • Strong experience managing EPC/EPCM/D&C/TK contracts (client-side preferred).
  • Background in mining or heavy industrial projects highly valued.
  • Proven leadership, conflict resolution, and contractor management skills.
  • Knowledge of current construction codes and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Bilingual (English/French) required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead construction planning, execution, and supervision on-site.
  • Champion safety culture and compliance with all HSE standards.
  • Manage cost, schedule, quality, and scope performance.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams on design reviews and constructability.
  • Oversee contractor performance, RFIs, submittals, and change management.
  • Support procurement, progress reporting, and cost tracking.
  • Conduct site inspections, lead weekly meetings, and provide clear documentation.
  • Assist with commissioning, turnover, and closeout activities.

With deep expertise in sectors like mining, metals, energy, and pulp & paper, our client is known for its strong technical coordination and rigorous project governance.

Construction Location: Baie-Comeau, Quebec

Primary working location: From home

Language: English & French required

Travel Expectations: Approximately 30% travel the first 2 years on the project and then up to 75% by 2028.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Construction Manager in Baie-Comeau to lead on-site execution for a major capital project with a global aluminum producer.

The Construction Manager oversees all field construction activities — ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This includes managing contractors, coordinating with engineering and project teams, and driving accountability across all construction phases from design through to commissioning and turnover. You’ll support both the planning (FEL3) and execution phases — from constructability reviews and contractor selection to full on-site delivery, commissioning, and project closeout.
