Our client is looking for an experienced estimator to join a young, dynamic, and rapidly growing team.
Tasks
- Develop detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment required for each construction project.
- Provide advice on the bidding process, analyze received proposals, recommend offers to accept, and participate in contract negotiations to secure the best possible terms.
- Prepare cost estimates and schedules at different stages of projects.
- Develop and maintain systems for managing bids, tracking costs, and preparing financial reports.
- Maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors, including performance evaluations to facilitate future selections.
- Work closely with contractors and subcontractors to conduct feasibility studies, adjust cost estimates, and identify potential savings opportunities.
- Participate in the preparation of progress reports, consolidating available data and ensuring that financial forecasts align with the established budget.
- Assess project risks, considering potential delays, weather or geographical conditions, and integrating safety margins into cost estimates.
- Conduct site visits to inspect the current state of the project, verify the validity of cost assumptions, and adjust estimates based on findings.

Job requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in the industrial and commercial sectors, with expertise in projects combining office and residential spaces.
- A DEC in Building Estimation and Evaluation Technology (an asset), or an equivalent diploma (DEC, AEC) or university degree (BAC) in engineering, building estimation and evaluation, architecture, or a relevant field.
- Skills in reading plans and technical specifications.
- A valid driver's license.
- Proficiency in French, both oral and written.
- Proficiency in English, both oral and written, at 50% of the time for communication with the western part of the city and English-speaking clients.
- Knowledge of General Estimator software (an asset).
- Good proficiency in office tools and Microsoft Project software.
