Job Description
Job Summary:
We are an innovative electrical contractor seeking a dedicated and skilled Estimator/ Project Coordinator to join our growing team. This role provides an exciting opportunity to work on sustainable electrification projects, including LED lighting, EV charging, and solar installations. Reporting to the CEO, you will play a critical role in completing projects efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.
This is an independent contract remote position with site visits as needed, offering competitive compensation starting at $40–$52/hour, depending on experience. Contractors are responsible for filing and remitting their own taxes in accordance with BC and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Estimate LED lighting, EV charging, and Solar projects with accuracy and attention to detail
- Provide clear and timely reporting on all project elements
- Ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget
- Manage onsite logistics, including lifts, materials, and tools
- Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications with precision
- Support quality control through regular inspections
- Manage scope changes and incorporate them seamlessly into project plans
- Create and maintain project drawings, specifications, and scope documents
- Conduct site visits to assess conditions and gather relevant data
- Collaborate with project managers and field teams to align on budgets and timelines
- Assist with procurement activities and obtain subcontractor pricing as needed
- Develop lighting and controls solutions, with a preference for experience in lighting controls design and implementation
- Process and price change orders for active projects
- Uphold and promote Thrive’s core values in all work
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
- Electrical Trade Certificate - Journeyperson or Red Seal
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working on institutional, commercial, or industrial building projects
- Preference for those experienced with LED lighting, EV charging, and solar installations
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Proficient in Adobe Suite, Microsoft Word, and Excel
- Experience using Bluebeam and AutoCAD
- Strong technology skills, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools and platforms
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to getting things right the first time
- Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, no-ego environment
- Class 5 Driver’s License (required)
- Access to a suitable home office for remote work
