Job summary

Symless IT in Fort McMurray, AB is seeking a Computer Network Technician to maintain and improve LAN/WAN infrastructure and computer workstations. You will monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and assist users across varying technical levels.

The role requires great problem-solving and communication skills and is based on-site in Fort McMurray. The position offers day/evening shifts with on-call duties and overtime possibilities.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Computer Technician or similar IT support.
• Familiarity with Windows and Mac OS.
• Experience with network monitoring tools like SolarWinds preferred.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Computer Network Technician to join our company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing computer systems and network infrastructure. This role requires a strong understanding of various operating systems and networking protocols to ensure optimal performance and security of our technology resources.

Duties

• Coordinate access and use of computer networks.
• Maintain, troubleshoot and administer the use of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), mainframe networks and computer workstations and peripheral equipment.
• Monitor the performance of computer systems and networks.
• Evaluate and install computer hardware, networking software and operating system software.
• Provide problem-solving services to network users.
• Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
• Set up local area networks and connections to the Internet.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.

Experience

• Proven experience as a Computer Technician or in a similar role within IT support.
• Familiarity with windows and Mac based operating systems.
• Experience with network monitoring tools like SolarWinds is preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills to effectively assist users with varying levels of technical expertise.
