Job summary

RK MacDonald Nursing Home is seeking a General Worker (Housekeeping) to maintain a clean and sanitary environment for residents. The role supports daily housekeeping, including cleaning and tidying common areas and resident rooms.

The position is full-time, with shifts from 8am to 4pm and rotation every 2nd weekend, under the UNIFOR bargaining unit. Applicants must meet education and physical requirements and may be eligible for NSHEPP benefits.

Qualifications

• Good physical health and mobility; ability to lift about 30 lbs.
• Grade 12 Education; housekeeping or laundry experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Provide general housekeeping to maintain a clean, sanitary, comfortable and tidy environment.
• Follow supervisor directions and perform routine housekeeping tasks as assigned.

Opening Statement

The R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home is a Long-Term Care Home to 136 Residents and employs 280 staff in various Departments.

The General Worker provides general housekeeping services to maintain a clean, sanitary, comfortable and tidy environment for the Home.

Education, Training, and Experience

Good physical health (physical stamina and mobility including ability to reach, kneel and bend; ability to lift, push and pull required load (usually about 30lbs) Ability to work independently and with others, ability to follow verbal and written instructions, ability to learn the operation of equipment, ability to perform repetitive tasks. Grade 12 Education, experience in housekeeping or laundry preferred, but not required.

Hours of Work

(8am-4pm) (subject to change) Rotation every 2nd weekend.

$20.4811-20.8080 per current contract rate (according to experience)

Pension NSHEPP can waive for 3 mos.

Vac/Hol Accumulate according to start in fiscal year (Apr – Mar)
