RK MacDonald Nursing Home in Antigonish, NS is seeking a Continuing Care Assistant to deliver resident-centered, holistic care under the direction of the RN Charge Nurse/LPN. You will be part of an interdisciplinary team aligned with our mission and values.

Provincial CCA certification is required, with registry membership and relevant training (CPR, WHMIS, food handlers, dementia/alzheimer, palliative care) preferred.

Opening Statement

The R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home is a Long-Term Care Home to 137 Residents and employs 250 staff in various Departments. Under the direction and supervision of the RN Charge Nurse &/or LPN, the Continuing Care Assistant (CCA), provides resident –focused, holistic care, within an interdisciplinary team consistent with the Mission, Vision, Values and philosophy of care of the RK Mac Donald Nursing Home

CORE COMPETENCIES: Resident centered focus; Communication; Conflict Management Self & Community Awareness; and Teamwork (fosters Teamwork)

Qualifications: Provincial certification in Continuing Care Assistant (CCA). Provincial CCA certification required for permanent employment. Registered member of the CCA Registry (Continuing Care Assistant Program – HANS). Certification in CPR, WHMIS, Food Handlers, Dementia/Alzheimer, Palliative care courses and gentle persuasion approach.

Hours of Work (Rotations include weekends) Day/evening Shifts (subject to change)

8 hr. rotations (made up of 7am-3pm and 1pm-9 pm)

Salary $24.4130-$27.1295/hr. (experience as per Unifor contract pay scale) (Paid Breaks & 80 hrs. bi-weekly)

Pension – (Can deferred for 3mos, if not previously in plan)

Vacation, holiday – Prorated for fiscal year start

Sick benefits- (Upon Completion of a 528 hr. Probation Period)
