Job summary

Optima Living is seeking a Driver to provide safe, reliable transportation for residents to appointments, outings, and events. You will help residents with boarding and exiting, operate company vehicles, and maintain records while upholding the organization’s person-centered care values.

The role emphasizes safety, infection control, and collaboration with the Recreation Manager to support community activities and resident well-being.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 4 driver's license with a clear abstract.
• Active CPR and First Aid certification.
• Experience operating shuttle buses or vans is an asset.
• Experience in residential care or mental health setting is an asset.
• Ability to assist residents with varying mobility and cognitive abilities.
• Computer literacy is required.
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts.

Responsibilities

• Operates company vehicle safely and in compliance with traffic laws and policies.
• Transports residents to medical appointments, outings, and shopping.
• Assists residents during boarding and exiting, including mobility aids.
• Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections and reports concerns.
• Keeps records of trips, mileage, fuel use, and attendance.
• Keeps vehicles clean and sanitized to high standards.
• Responds calmly in emergencies during outings.
• Supports outings by participating as needed.
• Alerts supervisor to unsafe conditions or incidents.
• Reports maintenance issues and follows procedures.
• Adheres to infection control policies and privacy laws.
• Completes orientation and mandatory trainings; supports new team members.
• Participates in meetings and internal communications.
