Job summary

Southbridge Care Homes in Picton, Ontario is seeking a Personal Support Worker for Hallowell House. This temporary part-time position offers mixed shifts and a 45-hour biweekly schedule.

You will provide direct personal and nursing care, supporting residents' physical, emotional, and social needs, and participate in care planning and documentation under the Director of Care. A 6 months to 1 year contract with vaccination and TB tests as per policy; training provided; teamwork and compassionate

Qualifications

• Must have completed a PSW program meeting ministry/OU standards with a minimum of 600 hours.
• Experience in long-term care is an asset.
• Knowledge of care planning systems and documentation is required.
• Mentally and physically able to perform duties as assigned.
• Ability to communicate positively with staff, residents and families.
• Demonstrates empathy and a genuine interest in quality care.
• Ability to read/write English and follow instructions clearly.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with ambulation, feeding, bathing and grooming.
• Encourage participation in activity programs by aiding residents to activities.
• Assist with meal service and nourishment delivery and provide feeding assistance as needed.
• Provide emotional and social support to residents and families, including palliative care.
• Adhere to policies on documentation, QA, safety and infection control.
• Consult with supervisor on unit activities and care needs.
• Participate in care conferences and document care plans.
