Job summary

Carefor is Eastern Ontario’s largest not-for-profit home care and community support provider, offering a weekday daytime schedule (8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) with no weekends or holidays.

The Personal/Home Support Worker collaborates with the health care team to support clients at home and promote independence and well-being. Ideal candidates hold an Ontario PSW certificate (or NAC/related) and are willing to travel by vehicle.

Qualifications

• Ontario PSW certificate or NAC certificate or related Home Support Worker certificates.
• Clear Vulnerable Sector check (within last 6 months).
• Immunizations up to date for diphtheria, tetanus, polio, rubella and hepatitis.
• Negative tuberculosis test.
• Palliative care experience is an asset.
• First Aid/CPR is asset.
• A vehicle is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in activities of daily living (eating, dressing, transferring, grooming, bathing).
• Provide laundering of clothes and linens.
• Provide light cleaning.
• Provide respite care.
• Prepare light meals.
• Offer cognitive, social and compassionate support.
• Document reports for client care plans and changes.

Education

Ontario Certified Personal Support Worker Certificate and/or NAC Certificate

Certificate in Home Support Worker (Level II/III)

Developmental Service Worker program, Health Care Aide, Foreign-Trained BScN or Paramedic/Student variants
