Job summary

Extendicare is hiring a Part-time Food Service Worker to join our culinary team in Canada. You will assist with plating and serving meals, help with cleaning serving areas and equipment, and follow established safety and infection control policies.

The role requires the ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate to heavy items, with flexibility for days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. We value experienced dietary staff, current Food Handler's Certificate, and enrollment in a Food

Qualifications

• Successful completion and/or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program per Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act requirements.
• Current Food Handler's Certificate.
• Previous dietary experience preferred in LTC (Long Term Care).
• Ability to read and write English and understand simple verbal and written instructions.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform moderate to heavy lifting.

Responsibilities

• Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
• Observe time limits for meal serving and maintain proper serving temperatures.
• Assist cooks with preparing simple foods (breakfast items, salads, vegetables, fruits).
• Clear plates and trays; operate the dishwasher and clean utensils.
• Stock unit kitchenettes and nourishment carts; participate in safety and infection control procedures.
• Attend facility meetings and in-service education programs.
