Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a part-time dietary services team member to serve meals to residents in accordance with individual diets and safety standards. You will assist cooks, perform basic food prep, and help with cleaning, storage, and QA procedures.

The role requires an Ontario Food Handlers Program, English literacy, ability to lift and stand for long periods, and availability on days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Competitive pay and benefits accompany a compassionate, mission-driven team.

Qualifications

• Completion or enrollment in a Food Handlers Program meeting Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act requirements.
• Experience in dietary services in a long-term care setting preferred (0–1 year).
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift moderately to heavily.

Responsibilities

• Serve food to residents according to individual diets and time limits.
• Assist cooks with prep of simple foods and garnishes.
• Clear plates and trays; operate dishwasher and clean utensils.
• Store and label dietary supplies; participate in meetings and training.
• Follow safety, infection control, and QA procedures; perform other duties as assigned.
