Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a Dietary Aide to support meal setup, service and cleanup in our residence settings. Reporting to the Dietary Manager, you will assist with preparation, tray delivery and dining room cleanliness, while upholding safety and resident rights.

The role emphasizes patient-focused service, teamwork, and adherence to health regulations. Part-time hours, with competitive hourly pay and benefits, make this a rewarding opportunity in senior care across Canada.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Food Handler’s Certificate.
• Preference for experience in food service and working with seniors.
• Must be enrolled in or have completed a Food Service Worker Training Program.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
• Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy items and stand for long periods.
• Second language proficiency is an asset.
• Vulnerable Sector Check or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Serve meals to residents and guests in a courteous manner.
• Assist with set up and preparation for service of beverages, salads, desserts, etc.
• Set and clear dining tables and deliver tray service.
• Assist with cleaning of dishware and dining area.
• Maintain kitchen and dining area cleanliness.
• Assist with catering and participate in special events.
• Assist in orientation and training of new dietary staff.
• Follow health and safety regulations and department procedures.
• Respect residents’ rights and promote care standards.
• Attend in-service training and staff meetings as required.
• Participate in Quality Improvement initiatives.
