Job summary

Calgary Food Bank is seeking a Content and Engagement Specialist to own the story and content pipeline across communications. You will gather stories from clients, volunteers, donors, staff and partners and transform them into web, email, and donor content that reflects our mission.

You will write, edit, and proofread for clarity and tone, adapting complex information into plain language while upholding dignity and consent.

Qualifications

• Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
• Experience interviewing people and developing human-centered stories.
• Ability to translate complex data into plain language.
• Strong judgment on dignity, consent, privacy and sensitive topics.
• Experience with research, data, and campaign materials.
• Degree or equivalent in communications or related field.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop stories from clients, volunteers, donors, partners, staff and events.
• Conduct interviews with staff, volunteers, donors, and clients.
• Build stories showing dignity, access, and community impact.
• Maintain a practical story bank to support communications and donor stewardship.
• Write and edit web stories, donor updates, newsletters, and reports.
• Adapt complex information into plain language for varied audiences.
• Coordinate consent and ensure privacy and respectful use of stories.
• Collaborate with teams to tailor content for social, email, and web.
