Job summary

Commissionaires BC is seeking a Security Officer to support local businesses and the community in Surrey. The role runs Monday to Friday, 0800–1600, with a pay rate of $24/hr. You will assist RCMP, patrol on foot, and engage with the public to promote safety.

Requirements include a BC security license, First Aid and Advanced Security Training certificates, 2+ years in security, and strong communication skills. Uniforms are provided.

Qualifications

• Must hold a BC security license.
• First Aid certificate is required.
• Advanced security training certificate required.
• Minimum 2 years’ security experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven experience dealing with diverse members of the public.
• Strong time-management and organizational skills.
• Physically able to conduct extensive foot patrols.
• De-escalation certification.
• Naloxone training certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist the RCMP as a visible community presence to promote safety and security.
• Work with local businesses and community members to ensure a safe environment.
• Observe and report any unusual activity.
• Take detailed notes to investigate incidents promptly and accurately.
• Establish positive relationships with transit police, business owners, and community members.
• Engage with the public and respond to concerns and inquiries.
