Job description

Hours of operation: 9am-9pm (10-20 hours per week for 3-4 weeks). Must be able to work various hours and shifts.

Are you passionate about civic engagement and making a difference in your community? We’re looking for Public Engagement Liaisons (PELs) to connect with diverse community groups, reduce barriers to voting, and increase voter registration awareness. You’ll work closely with Indigenous communities, seniors, youth, new citizens, people with disabilities, underserved groups, and voters experiencing homelessness to ensure they have the information and support needed to participate in the electoral process.

What You’ll Do:

• Develop and execute an outreach strategy for your electoral district.
• Build relationships with diverse community stakeholders and organizations.
• Provide election and voter registration information through presentations and information sessions.
• Coordinate with other Public Engagement Liaisons in nearby districts.
• Raise awareness about accessibility services, translation, and interpretation support.
• Oversee a promotional team to assist in voter engagement efforts.
• Track and report outreach activities to the Returning Officer.
• Perform additional duties as required.

What We’re Looking For:

• Strong public speaking, outreach, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience engaging with diverse communities and addressing barriers to voting.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards (AODA) and inclusive outreach best practices.
• Excellent communication, organization, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
• Familiarity with your electoral district’s community demographics.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams, and other digital communication tools.
• Access to reliable transportation.
• Existing relationships with community organizations are a plus!
• Must be 18+, legally eligible to work in Canada, and bilingual preferred.
