Job description

Community Manager & Copywriter (Full-Time)

TLDR: Serotina is hiring a Community Manager & Copywriter who is genuinely, chronically online. You'll be the voice of brands in the comments, DMs, and replies, spot cultural moments in real time, write copy that actually lands, and turn quick ideas into posted content, with the judgment to know when to swing and when to sit one out.

Location: Toronto or Vancouver, Canada (hybrid, remote-first)

Who Are You?

You understand that great brands are built in the comments, DMs, captions, and replies, not just the feed. You're witty, culturally fluent, and online in a way that can't be faked. You know the difference between a trend a brand should jump on and one it should absolutely stay away from, and you have the timing to act while a moment is still a moment.

You can write genuinely sharp, on-brand copy that can be funny, bold, cheeky - whatever the brand's voice calls for. You can move between internet-speak, youth culture, and polished depending on what the moment calls for. And you don't just wait for content to react to: you go out and engage, starting conversations with other accounts, communities, and creators to build real presence and reach.

You're quick on your feet. When something breaks, you can turn a reactive idea into a posted piece of content fast, without needing a two-week production timeline. You care about getting the voice exactly right, because you know that's what separates a brand people follow from a brand people mute.

What You'll Do
Community Management & Real-Time Engagement
  • Own daily community management across client channels: monitoring and responding to comments, DMs, and mentions in the right brand voice.
  • Start conversations, don't just join them. Proactively engage in the comments of other brands, creators, and trending content to build visibility and connection.
  • Spot conversations, trends, and cultural moments in real time and make the call on when and how a brand should participate.
  • Act as the frontline voice of our clients, keeping responses on-brand, timely, and thoughtful.
  • Flag high-priority, sensitive, or brand-relevant conversations for escalation or client review.
  • Track and document community insights, sentiment, and FAQs to inform strategy and response guidelines.
Copywriting
  • Write, edit, and refine captions, short-form copy, and support strategic copy.
  • Flex your voice across brands and formats, balancing internet-speak, youth culture, brand voice, and professionalism depending on what's needed.
  • Write genuinely funny, culturally relevant copy for reactive and real-time moments.
  • Ensure captions, CTAs, and formats are optimized per brand and per platform.
  • Review content calendars for consistency, clarity, and engagement opportunities.
Quick-Turn Content Creation
  • Turn reactive ideas and cultural moments into quick-turn social content, fast.
  • Create light, platform-native content (native edits, simple graphics, UGC-style clips) to seize timely opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the creative team when a moment needs a bigger production lift.
Trend & Culture Watch
  • Keep an at-the-edge pulse on online culture from discourse, memes, audio, and formats across platforms.
  • Research and identify emerging cultural moments and trends and recommend where to apply them, lean in, and engage per brand and per project.
  • Share relevant trends and reactive opportunities with the team regularly.
  • Bring a point of view on how each brand should show up in culture.
General
  • Attend virtual team meetings and in-person team moments.
  • Submit task reports and maintain accurate time tracking in Teamwork per Company policy.
  • Communicate promptly during business hours (Monday to Friday, excluding Canadian statutory holidays).
What We're Looking For
  • 2+ years in social media management, social copywriting, or a social-first agency or brand environment.
  • A portfolio or examples of copy and community work that delivered impact.
  • Demonstrable experience working with culture-forward brands and online communities.
  • A genuinely online sensibility and hunger for culture: you get internet culture because you live in it.
  • Sharp judgment on brand safety and when a brand should (and shouldn't) join a moment.
  • Ability to write in and switch between multiple brand voices with confidence.
  • Comfortable creating quick-turn, platform-native content; deeper content creation skills are a strong plus.
  • Highly organized and comfortable managing engagement across multiple accounts.
  • Familiar with social scheduling and publishing tools and social performance metrics.
  • CPG, beverage, or food and beverage brand experience is an asset.
Why Join Us?
  • A forward-thinking, inclusive agency that values ownership, voice, and clarity.
  • Flexible, remote-first work model.
  • Competitive vacation and paid time-off
  • A role with real impact on how brands actually talk to people.

Salary Range: $50,000-$60,000 CAD annually, depending on experience.
