Job summary

Family Service Saskatoon Inc. is seeking a Community Connector to strengthen relationships between individuals, families, and support services across Saskatoon. This role emphasizes building trust, fostering inclusion, and helping people navigate resources to improve well-being.

The position requires a University Bachelor's Degree and 1-2 years of experience in community outreach or related fields. It is a temporary full-time role with the potential for extension, and includes evening/weekend

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
  • Experience in community outreach or social services.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Saskatoon's community; ability to work with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

  • Build meaningful relationships with individuals, families, and community groups.
  • Participate in outreach activities, events, and initiatives across Saskatoon.
  • Identify gaps in service and advocate for community needs.
  • Help community members access mental health, family support, housing, and employment services.
  • Maintain relationships with stakeholders to support project goals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
  • Share information about programs through outreach, social media, and networks.
  • Develop and distribute promotional materials.
  • Maintain records of outreach activities and community interactions.
  • Work independently and as a team.
  • Perform work outside of regular hours, including evenings and/or weekends.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Education

BSW, Education, Community Development, or a related field

Knowledge
  • Experience in community outreach, social services, or related fields
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills
  • Knowledge of Saskatoons community landscape & social service systems
  • Cultural competency & experience working with diverse populations
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools & social media
  • Lived experience or deep understanding of barriers faced by marginalized communities
  • Culturally sensitive & adept at working with Indigenous, immigrant, refugee, & newcomer populations
  • Valid drivers license & access to a personal vehicle

This position is in-scope, CUPE Local 5316.
