Qualifications

  • Eligible for IAP2 membership or equivalent accreditation.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and oversees community engagement processes and plans aligned with strategic goals.
  • Supports policy/framework development and ensures consistency across the organization.
  • Provides collaborative consultation with stakeholders to resolve engagement issues.
  • Manages engagement tools and practices across the organization.
  • Communicates with stakeholders and assists in reports from data analysis.
  • Monitors trends in engagement tools and recommends strategies.
  • Coordinates public engagement activities and moderates corporate online messaging.
  • Assists with budget and tendering processes.
  • Collaborates with communications and marketing to boost participation.

Job Summary

This position provides leadership in developing, directing, and implementation community engagement initiatives and processes that support City of Saskatoon strategic goals and objectives required for successful public engagement.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Develops, implements, and manages the community engagement process and engagement plans to ensure alignment with strategic goals for civic departments and divisions.

  • Assists in developing community engagement processes, policies, procedures and framework and ensure they are followed in a consistent and coordinated manner throughout the corporation.

  • Provides collaborative consultation for all stakeholders to identify and resolve community engagement issues and opportunities.

  • Oversees quality application of tools and practices of engagement activities across the organization.

  • Communicates and supports stakeholders with community engagement initiatives, processes, procedures, and results

  • Assist with the preparation of reports and other related materials from analysis of data collected.

  • Analyzes emerging best practices and trends in engagement tools and techniques and recommends appropriate strategies for their use.

  • Participates in the coordination and facilitation of public engagement activities.

  • Moderates messaging and strategies for corporate online engagement tools and social media websites.

  • Assist with the budget and tendering process.

  • Collaborates with communications and marketing staff to ensure the public and stakeholders are aware of opportunities to participate

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience Requirements:


  • Degree in human/social sciences (public policy, psychology, sociology), community development, education, planning, business or related field. Course work related to public consultation design would be an asset.

  • Four to six years’ progressively responsible experience in community engagement, project management and strategic communications.

  • Eligible for the IAP2 membership and Canadian accreditation or similar training.

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships within the organization and community.

  • Ability to build consensus, generate common understanding, and create a shared vision with diverse stakeholders and interests.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and decision-making under strict time constraints and competing priorities.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive information.

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive situations.


Additional Requirements

Must be available to be on-call.


Weekly Hours:

Salary Range:

$86,735.04to$101,651.04 CADper annum (2026rates)
