Position Summary
Perkins&Will has an exciting opportunity for a creative and highly skilled individual to join our Business Development and Marketing team in a multifaceted role as a Communications Specialist.
This position will be based in our Toronto or Ottawa studio.
The sectors we service include Higher Education; Sports, Recreation and Entertainment; Corporate Interiors; Commercial and Mixed-Use; Urban Design; and Transportation.
Responsibilities
- Crafts and elevates the studio’s most strategic communications: high-profile pursuits, national awards, and prestige publications.
- Plans, produces, and edits multimedia campaigns, including social media campaigns, project storytelling, and firm history. Maintains our active social media presence across various platforms by creating memorable content that highlights the firm’s portfolio, culture, accomplishments, and people.
- Manages a social media calendar and ensures it aligns with the broader communication strategy and marketing strategy.
- Researches expertise to understand needs of clients, market trends, and relevant background information associated with business development efforts.
- Assists the design director, design principal in the curation and production of Design Excellence learning.
- Ensures that storytelling and messaging serves the communities impacted by our clients’ projects through research, writing, editing, and multimedia production.
- Promotes thought leadership within the studio.
- Mentors and guides junior content creators in editorial processes and firm priorities.
- Communicates ideas and thoughts in a way that inspires others.
- Coordinates campaigns communication strategy effectively and engages with clients, partners, and consultants to achieve desired communications outcomes.
- Preparation and coordination of proposals as needed.
- Drafts, edits, organizes, and proofs various marketing collateral as needed.
- Makes and maintains contacts with media outlets. Functions as the point of contact for the studio for media relations, including participating in networking and attending events where studio media coverage is expected.

Software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe InDesign required.
- Familiarity with Illustrator and PhotoShop preferred.
- Presentation Tools (Adobe Suite/Affinity, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
- Adobe Premiere or Audition Canva (Preferred but not required)
Licensure/Certifications/Education
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field required
- LEED GA (preferred not required)
Expectations
- In studio 4 days per week (as per studio policy) or at events.
- Attendance at external events and conferences (some events may be outside office hours)
- Travel may be required
Reporting Structure
This role will report to the Marketing Manager.
