Job summary

Webuild is seeking a Communications Coordinator to join the Hazel McCallion LRT project in Mississauga, Canada. You will report to the Manager - Community Engagement and lead strategies, public communications, and stakeholder interactions to support project success.

The role involves coordinating meetings, developing engaging materials, and ensuring clear, accessible notices for diverse audiences while collaborating with municipal partners and internal teams.

Qualifications

  • Experience in communications, community engagement, customer service and/or public affairs, with experience executing and communicating informational and promotional material to the general public.

Responsibilities

  • Leads provision of accurate and effective community engagement strategies and materials that enhance relations with the public, customers, residents, project delivery teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Helps build positive relationships through transparent and timely communications, contributing to the development and implementation of strategic community engagement plans, representing the interests of the community and stakeholders to Metrolinx project teams.
  • Utilizes tools and applications to enhance public access to project information and engagement opportunities.
  • Supports digital publishing and updates across web and email channels, including the uploading of construction notices, project and event information, and regional updates. Coordinates internal workflows for digital updates, version control, and metadata tagging, in collaboration with project teams and digital content leads.
  • Understands complex technical information relayed by project team to craft construction notices and other notifications to the public in simple language.
  • Leads and coordinates community engagement, ensuring effective communication with residents, businesses, and stakeholders, including elected officials.
  • Develops and implements tailored engagement strategies to address project-specific needs, timelines, and community concerns.
  • Organizes, develops materials, and facilitates public meetings, information sessions, and stakeholder consultations to inform, gather feedback and build trust.
  • Prepares clear, accessible communication materials (newsletters, FAQs, social media posts, presentations, project updates) for diverse audiences.
  • Monitors and responds to community inquiries and feedback through multiple channels (email, phone, in-person).
  • Collaborates with project teams, municipal partners, and elected officials to align engagement efforts with project goals and regulatory requirements.[JC1] [SC2]
  • Collaborates and strategizes with internal teams such as Municipal Partners, Stakeholder Relations, Social and Digital teams, Capital Communications, Planning, Project teams.
  • Tracks and reports on engagement outcomes, including sentiment analysis, attendance, and feedback trends.
  • Identifies and mitigates potential community risks or issues related to construction impacts, safety, and accessibility.
  • Supports the development of inclusive outreach initiatives to ensure underrepresented groups are heard and engaged.
  • Maintains detailed records of engagement activities, correspondence, and stakeholder interactions, and utilizes these to best determine future approaches
  • Stays current on best practices in community engagement, public consultation, and transit infrastructure communications.
  • Contributes to and/or leads development of project presentations, reports, and briefing materials for internal and external audiences.
  • Supports and attends on site stakeholder visits and meetings, community pop ups, events and canvasses as well as project construction site tours as required.
  • Monitors user experience and performance of digital engagement tools to improve functionality and accessibility.

About the Job

We are hiring a Communications Coordinator to step into a new role on our Communication Team on the Hazel McCallion LRT. This position reports to the Manager - Community Engagement .

What You Will Be Doing?

What We Are Looking For?
  • Experience in communications, community engagement, customer service and/or public affairs, with experience executing and communicating informational and promotional material to the general public.
  • Flexibility to undertake occasional travel between office locations, as required, based on business needs. Flexible Hours: Must be prepared to occasionally work outside of regular working hours during some phases of a project (before 9am and/or beyond 5pm during the work week and weekends as required, etc.).
Expected Compensation

Successful candidates chosen for this position can expect to earn between $80,000.00 CAD - $90,000.00 CAD The exact salary you will earn within this range is dependant on the specific project to which you are assigned.
