About the Project

You will be part of our Pape North Connect project, playing a key role in driving its success and contributing to one of Canada’s most exciting infrastructure projects.

About the Job

We are hiring a Site Superintendent to step into an existing role, on our Construction team, on the Pape North Connect project. This position reports to the Construction Manager.

What You Will Be Doing?
  • Direct field oversight ensures utility work aligns with construction schedule and avoids costly delays.
  • Reduces risk of utility strikes, service interruptions, and safety incidents by enforcing proper methods and monitoring subcontractors.
  • Provides a single point of contact on site for utility owners and city inspectors, speeding up approvals and resolving conflicts immediately.
  • Supports real-time decision-making during closures, detours, and emergency conditions— something office-based staff cannot do.
  • Ensures accurate as-built capture and compliance with permits, protecting against future claims and disputes.
  • Field availability: able to support night/weekend closures, staged traffic flips, and time-sensitive cutovers.
  • Regulatory & permitting: fluency with Municipal Consent (MC), Utility Coordination (UC) processes, TTC/Metrolinx requirements, and lane/sidewalk closure permits.
  • Quality & records: rigorous approach to as-built capture, photo documentation, redlines, test-pit logs, hydrant test sheets, and SUE QA/QC.
  • Direct working relationships with Toronto Water, Toronto Hydro, Enbridge Gas, Bell/Rogers/Telus, and City of Toronto Right-of-Way Management (permits, locates, cut-permits, traffic staging approvals).
  • Risk & claims posture: capable of drafting owner memos/position papers when late information or design changes impact schedule (e.g., CIAR updates, change notices).
What We Are Looking For?
  • 5—10 years of direct field experience managing wet (water, storm, sanitary), dry (gas, hydro), and communication (fiber/telecom) utilities.
  • Diploma/Degree in Civil Engineering/Construction Management or equivalent experience.
  • Proven ability to supervise subcontractors performing utility relocations, protection, and tieIns.
  • Strong knowledge of traffic staging and lane closures as they relate to utility work.
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting utility drawings on site and resolving conflicts in real time.
  • Experience coordinating with City inspectors, utility owners, and third-party stakeholders during active construction.
  • Familiarity with emergency response protocols for live utility strikes or unexpected conditions.
  • Demonstrated track record coordinating with utility owners, city staff, designers and Subcontractors to drive approvals and field readiness.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication; able to chair utility coordination meetings and produce action-oriented minutes.
  • Strong knowledge of SUE processes, utility relocation, and permitting.
  • Familiarity with traffic management and staging plans related to utility work.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and utility maps.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience on large-scale transit or infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of local utility standards and municipal bylaws.
