Job summary

Plan Group is seeking two driven COMM Technicians to install and service structured cabling systems in Calgary, AB. You will handle copper, fiber, and coaxial cabling, route and terminate cables, install network hardware, and ensure all work meets safety and quality standards.

You must hold current MEWP, Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry/Monitor, and WHMIS certifications. The role offers 40 hours per week, with CLAC unionized wages and benefits.

Qualifications

  • MEWP operation certification current.
  • Fall protection current.
  • Confined Space Entry and Monitor current.
  • WHMIS training current.

Responsibilities

  • Install structured cabling systems including multi-pair copper, inside/outside fiber optic, and coaxial cables.
  • Route, form, prep, terminate, label and test cables.
  • Work with connectors, patch panels, patch cords, outlets, and cable assemblies.
  • Use hand tools, ladders, testers, barricades, and safety equipment.
  • Troubleshoot inside and outside plant cable issues, perform repairs, and validate test results.
  • Install access points, network hardware and security equipment.
  • Demolish/remove cables and recycle.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and site requirements.
  • Material handling, inventory control and documentation.

Responsibilities
  • Installation of structured cabling systems, including multi-pair copper, inside/outside fiber optic, and coaxial cables
  • Cable routing, forming, prepping, terminating, labeling, and testing
  • Working with a wide range of connectors, patch panels, patch cords, outlets, and cable assemblies
  • Use of hand tools, ladders, testers, barricades, and required safety equipment
  • Troubleshooting inside and outside plant cable issues, performing repairs, and validating test results
  • Installation of access points, network hardware, and security equipment
  • Cable demolition/removal and recycling
  • Adherence to all safety procedures and site requirements
  • Material handling, inventory control, and documentation
  • Class 5 driver's license and valid police clearance required

To excel in this role, you must be well-versed in all required company and prime contractor safety rules and regulations.
