Job summary

Sovereign Insurance is seeking an Underwriting Specialist to join the Commercial UW team in a hybrid role. You will analyze risks, provide creative solutions to broker partners, and deliver exceptional client service with attention to detail. You will influence decisions and help grow a profitable portfolio.

The role requires 7–10 years of Commercial Underwriting experience, with broker relationships, and expertise in Construction, Manufacturing and Energy Contractors. CIP is a plus.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of Commercial Underwriting experience with established broker relationships.
• Experience handling both new and renewal business.
• Expertise in underwriting Construction, Manufacturing and Energy Contractors.
• Strong analytical skills with portfolio management understanding.
• Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
• CIP designation is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Drive profitable portfolio growth through disciplined underwriting, exceptional customer service, proactive new business development, strong renewal retention and effective endorsement management.
• Develop and maintain relationships with partners by marketing Sovereign’s value proposition and attending client meetings or events.
• Promote, underwrite and quote new business, renewals and endorsements per underwriting philosophy and authority levels.
• Negotiate coverage and rates and participate in underwriting audits.
• Prepare necessary documentation and support the business you handle.
• Mentor junior underwriting team members and maintain broker relationships.
