Job description

At JBS Equipment, we pride ourselves on our commitment to quality and innovation. As a rapidly growing company based in Mission, BC, we are growing our pump truck division and looking for an experienced Paint Manager to play a key, hands on, role in overseeing and managing the paint department.

This position will be approximately 50% hands-on and on the shop floor, and 50% in office. If you enjoy overseeing and managing projects, as well as teams, and jumping on the line, you’ll be a great fit.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations of the paint department and quality control of all paint products.
  • Manage effective and efficient workflow and task assignments, meeting company standards and timelines.
  • Discuss with customers regarding the required specifications and needs for projects.
  • Quote jobs independently, accurately, and within margin, for approval by Shop Manager.
  • Lead by example and actively participate in painting and prep work on the floor as required.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and productivity across all paint activities.
  • Monitor workloads and ensure manpower is allocated efficiently to meet production targets.
  • Support and mentor team leads and tradespeople; foster continuous learning and development.
  • Develops and enhances safety culture and creates a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Assist in recruitment, conduct performance reviews, and provide performance management when required.
  • Assist with management of paint resources, including consumables, tooling, and equipment budgets.
  • Track and report on key performance metrics.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years’ of industrial equipment painting experience, with 5 years of direct management experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Direct experience with hiring, performance management, training, coaching and disciplinary conversations.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and hold team members accountable; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Basic to intermediate Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook) skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with attention to details.
  • Knowledge of safety standards, safety equipment and the chemicals used in the department.
  • Strong organizational, time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain performance in a fast-paced environment.
