Job summary

Carte International Inc. is seeking a skilled painter/general labourer to coat components per production schedules and customer specs. The role requires reading blueprints, understanding various coating systems, and operating airless spray equipment.

You will prepare surfaces, apply paint, inspect finished surfaces, and maintain a clean work area. Flexibility across shifts and compliance with safety policies are essential.

Qualifications

  • Must be fully trained and competent in all responsibilities that fall under General Labour 1.
  • Knowledge of and experience with paint applications and paint systems (airless, pump, etc.).
  • Knowledge and experience mixing and applying various coating systems (epoxy, zinc, urethanes).
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Must possess basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, conversions of fractions and decimals.
  • Experience using pneumatic and manual tools.
  • Must be able to be certified as a FORKLIFT OPERATOR and OVERHEAD CRANE OPERATOR.
  • Must be willing to work whenever they are most needed in the department or company on a temporary basis as assigned by the manager.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Must be available to work all shifts – days, afternoons, midnights (Mandatory).

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate conventional and airless spray equipment and brushes to apply paint to products, repairing damages on tanks and products as necessary.
  • Maintain and clean painting equipment.
  • Prepare product for painting.
  • Perform inspections of surfaces to be painted.
  • Complete assigned tasks and ensure performance targets and qualities are met. Perform department internal paint inspections to ensure painted surfaces meet outlined customer specifications.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the work area.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety and health regulations.

Job description

Responsible for coating or painting components (tanks, cooling panels, cabinet parts, finished coats) as per production schedule to the required customer specifications.

REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be fully trained and competent in all responsibilities that fall under General Labour 1.
  • Knowledge of and experience with paint applications and paint systems (airless, pump, etc.).
  • Knowledge and experience mixing and applying various coating systems (i.e. epoxy, zinc, urethanes, etc.).

  • Ability to achieve and maintain required productivity and quality levels in a dynamic and challenging environment by effectively organizing, prioritizing, and executing tasks.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Capable of performing physical job requirements with ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and safely climb ladders and stairs, and consistently reach, bend, sit, stand and climb.
  • Reliable, punctual, and positive team-player who is adaptable, open minded, enthusiastic, and takes initiative.
  • Previous knowledge and experience with 5S and Lean Manufacturing considered an asset.
