Job summary

Advanced Bending Technologies (ABT) in Calgary, AB is seeking an experienced Coater to prep, blast, and apply protective coatings to steel components and fabricated products. You will ensure coatings meet durability, appearance, and quality standards while supporting North American projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of industrial painting and coating experience.
• Experience with sandblasting and surface preparation.
• Experience applying epoxy coatings.
• Experience with polyurethane coatings.
• Experience with zinc coating systems.
• Strong understanding of coating application processes and quality requirements.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
• Intermediate computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces for coating, including cleaning, blasting, masking and inspection.
• Apply coatings such as epoxies, urethanes, zinc-rich coatings and specialty finishes.
• Read coating specifications, data sheets and work instructions.
• Mix and prepare coating materials per manufacturer specs.
• Operate coating equipment and spray systems safely and efficiently.
• Perform quality checks on coating thickness and finish.
• Complete production documentation and quality records.
• Collaborate with production and quality teams to meet deadlines.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Follow all safety policies and regulatory requirements.

The Opportunity

As a Coater, you will play a critical role in preparing, blasting, and applying protective coatings to steel pipe, structural components, and fabricated products. Your expertise will help ensure our products meet the highest standards of durability, appearance, and quality.

What You'll Do

• Prepare surfaces for coating through cleaning, blasting, masking, and inspection


• Apply industrial coatings, including epoxies, urethanes, zinc-rich coatings, and specialty finishes


• Read and interpret coating specifications, technical data sheets, and work instructions


• Mix and prepare coating materials according to manufacturer specifications


• Operate industrial coating equipment and spray systems safely and efficiently


• Perform quality checks to ensure coating thickness, finish quality, and compliance with project requirements


• Complete production documentation and quality records accurately


• Work closely with production and quality teams to meet project deadlines


• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment


• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
