Job summary

Advanced Bending Technologies (ABT), Calgary, AB, seeks a skilled Coater to prepare, blast, and apply protective coatings to steel pipe and structural components. You will help ensure durability and high-quality finishes for North American projects.

Responsibilities include surface prep, coating application (epoxies, polyurethane, zinc coatings), reading specifications, and maintaining safety and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of industrial painting and coating experience.
  • Experience with: Sandblasting and surface preparation; Epoxy coatings; Polyurethane coatings; Zinc coating systems.
  • Strong understanding of coating application processes and quality requirements.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Intermediate computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office.

  • Complete production documentation and quality records accurately.
  • Work closely with production and quality teams to meet project deadlines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

The Opportunity

As a Coater, you will play a critical role in preparing, blasting, and applying protective coatings to steel pipe, structural components, and fabricated products. Your expertise will help ensure our products meet the highest standards of durability, appearance, and quality.


What You'll Do


  • Prepare surfaces for coating through cleaning, blasting, masking, and inspection

What You Bring

Required Qualifications


  • Minimum 5 years of industrial painting and coating experience

  • Proven experience with:

    • Sandblasting and surface preparation

    • Epoxy coatings

    • Polyurethane coatings

    • Zinc coating systems



  • Strong understanding of coating application processes and quality requirements

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship

  • Intermediate computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office


Assets That Will Set You Apart


  • NACE, AMPP, or equivalent coating certification

  • Experience operating:

    • King pumps (45:1 and higher)

    • Conventional and pressure pot systems

    • Cup guns

    • Graco XM 70 plural component systems

    • HPX3 spray equipment



  • Experience working in structural steel, fabrication, manufacturing, oil & gas, or industrial environments

  • Experience working around large fabrication equipment, hot/cold bending operations, and confined spaces
