Job summary

Sheridan College is seeking a Co-op/Internship Education professional to facilitate student success in co-op and deliver career planning courses. The role involves advising program coordinators, delivering instruction to co-op students, and developing materials for employment readiness across campus and virtually.

The ideal candidate has strong client service skills, agile problem-solving, and a collaborative spirit.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3-year diploma/degree in Business, Computer Science, Social Science or related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in job development, career counselling and employment preparation, contact management systems, workshop delivery
• Ability to deliver classroom content at a post-secondary standard of facilitation and instruction
• Knowledge of CEWIL Canada, EWO and CACEE related to Cooperative Education is an asset

Responsibilities

• Preparing studies for the co-op work term
• Preparing and delivering Career Development instruction in a classroom environment (may be virtual) to Co-op students using employment preparation materials and teaching methodologies
• Course include: co-op orientation, policies and processes, resume creation, creative job search techniques, interview techniques, workplace success, and individual career exploration and planning
• Counseling students during individual appointments, telephone and email discussions
• Advising students in the creation of a professional resume and cover letter, interview techniques, wage negotiation, professional etiquette and overall decision making while seeking co-op employment
