Job summary

Sterling Industries in Barrie, ON is seeking an Engineering Co-op Student – Advanced Molding Solutions. You will support injection molding engineering, tooling, and process optimization under the Manager AMS, gaining hands-on exposure to DFM/DFA reviews, molding trials, data analysis, and documentation in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechatronics, or related discipline.
• Interest in injection molding, tooling, and manufacturing engineering.
• Hands-on and self-motivated with problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
• Experience with Excel and data analysis is a plus.
• Exposure to regulated manufacturing environments is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist injection molding, tooling, and process development tasks for AMS projects.
• Support DFM/DFA reviews of molded components and tooling concepts.
• Review mold and tooling design aspects including geometry and cooling.
• Conduct mold flow simulations, data prep, and results documentation.
• Support molding trials, DOE studies, and data collection.
• Analyze cycle times, scrap, parameters, and trial outcomes.
• Assist with rapid tooling, prototyping, and documentation.
• Contribute to tooling quotations, BOMs, and cost analysis for BD opportunities.
• Support PPAP, FMEA, APQP, validation, and work instructions as applicable.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings and maintain records per ISO 13485/FDA requirements.
